We are currently engaging with 326 artists.

Our Mission: To exist as an ally for artists, as an artistic community fostering creative autonomy through accessible initiatives and practical experience. We want to make a career in the arts accessible to all.

What we do

Our largest initiative is The Writers’ Collective, funded by Arts Council England. A 12-month programme which commissions four new plays and employs 46 freelancers (including trainee roles). Focusing on the development of a script; from pitching, redrafting, exploring structure and character, to working with directors and designers, this programme allows writers to grow and develop as artists, resulting in a public sharing of their plays as part of our festival The Big Share.

We run community-building initiatives, such as The Reading Room, member-led workshops, The Collective Blog and Creative Speed-Dating events. These initiatives instigate conversations led by our community, they also foster new collaborations and provide our artists with autonomy, for example, when pairing directors with writers for our new writing festival.

We commission and produce work by and with the artists in our collective. We also offer opportunities for creative development, often through shadowing and trainee programmes.

We are honoured to be an Associate Company at the Space Theatre.

Mrs C’s Collective are based in London.
